Born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1975, graduated from Texas Christian University in 1997 with a degree in Journalism. He came back to Bolivia and worked as photographer and editor in La Razón newspaper.
In 2001 he was a member of the Kotamama Expedition, a three-month trip from the Andes to the Amazon by boat. He also worked as personal photographer of President Carlos Mesa from 2004 to 2005.
